"Always In My Heart"

Vicki here...and excited that it's my turn up on the blog as Craft-Dee BowZ August Guest Designer.

The Craft-Dee BowZ Design Team is creating with this sketch and the colors red, yellow and black along with matching ribbons.

This was a true challenge for me as I don't often use the colors red and yellow when crafting.  When I think of red, yellow and black, it brings bold and vibrant to mind.  However, I wanted to tone it down and use a much softer version of the colors.  I also decided to put a twist on the colors using them more as accents to one another rather than having one color as the major focus on my card.

I started with a card base of black cardstock.  For the front of the card, I layered a black and white paisley print vellum over yellow cardstock.  I love how the vellum gives the bright yellow a more subtle, muted tone.

Then I matted the vellum layer with a narrow edge of red cardstock and added a yellow punched border down the right side accented with red jewels.

Using my fabulous Craft-Dee BowZ bow maker tool, I tied a piece of red ribbon into a bow and wrapped the tails around the card and adhered them on the inside.

I added a piece of black and white striped ribbon under the mini "note card" embellishment that I made with my die-cuts.

The piece of newsprint patterned paper, that I save every little scrap of, was perfect as the sentiment on the card.  The red heart jewel was the final touch!

And, here is my card using the sketch and colors...

"Always In My Heart"

Many thanks to Craft-Dee BowZ and the Design Team for having me as their Guest Designer for the month of August and allowing me to share my creations with you.

How Beautiful a day can be

Good Tuesday morning! Amber here with you newest Craft-Dee BowZ card. This month's theme was a sketch we were all given along with some goodies.

Using two different ribbons, I made two different bows, adding tails only to the red bow. Layered the red bow on top of the striped loop bow.

I stuck with a red/white/black theme for my card, scoring the white papers to give it an embossed look. Adding a sentiment and a decorative bottle cap to finish off my card.

Till next time! Get inky!

Whimsical face

Hello bow makers!  I did put this up on Facebook, but thought I'd share a bit about the class I took today.  We had the pleasure of having Donna-Marie come down from NH to teach us a whimsical face class.  Let me tell you, Donna-Marie is one of the best teachers on the planet.  She was concise, informative, interesting and a down right funny, crazy lady (my kind of gal!).  It was great to learn a new technique and not be on information overload.  She taught us enough technique about features with four pages of overlays, step by step, to see the progression of putting the face together.  Then, if that wasn't enough, she taught us a new way of "photo" transfer that is inexpensive and can be used over and over.

Once we got thru the drawing and transfer part, then we got to color our images.  That's when the fun really began.  I never knew I could mix such bizarre colors together and create such wonderful whimsy.  My project had green hair (yep!) mixed with browns, grays, reds and blues!  Shadowing was the most fun -- the more you add, the better this face got.

Okay, okay, here's my finished project.  No, she's not perfect, but she's not supposed to be and she's mine!

Of course I had to add a bow made from the Craft-Dee BowZ to hang this little pretty.  My focus is off a bit, but I just thought I'd show you another way you can utilize your Craft-Dee BowZ -- for picture hanging!

Here's a picture of some of the other whimsical faces that the other girls did.  We all learned the same technique, but look how different each face is.  Fantastic!

That's Jennifer far left, Mimi, Chris, Donna-Marie, me, Stacy and Kim (owner of Kept Creations).  What a great time we had.  We love you Donna-Marie -- please come back next summer!

I hope you enjoyed this peek into "a day in the life of...".

A little Craft-Dee Bowz Thanks!!!

It's my time to post this month on the Craft-Dee Bowz blog and Donna gave us a sketch and a challenge to use black, gold and red. I came up with this Thank You card.

I used the beautiful ribbons that Donna supplied and made two single bows with my Craft-Dee Bowz tool (single loop) and then put them together. The little charm and bottle cap were also supplied by Donna! I used some older Bella Boulevard paper from my stash. I just stamped a "thanks" sentiment on some craft cardstock for the base of the trinkets. I tied it all together with the black cardstock background!

You could use this design for any type of card, and it came together really quickly too!!! The Craft-Dee Bowz tool makes any size bows so easy to do! If you don't have one, you really should try it!! You will love it!!!

Thanks so much for dropping by and please check back again!!!!

It's Back to School Time

Hi Everyone,
It's Barbara with my August post. I can't believe it's August, end of summer and ......... now we hear the dreaded words................. BACK TO SCHOOL.
I remember when I was a kid, back to school, well it wasn't one of my favorite times. LOL Although I got new shoes and new clothes. I loved that.

Well I had a hard time finding stamps that fit the theme this month, and believe me I looked hi and low. LOL

After much searching all of my stamps, I decided to use an image of a little boy and girl. I imagine them going off to school with flowers for their teacher. This stamp reminds me of me and my brother when we were about this age. Since its time for back to school, I also wanted to use a chalk board look so I finally found a stamp of a pile of books and I stamped it on the black card stock. And since I was back to "no school stamps" I used my VersaMark marker to print  "Back to School"  at the bottom of the chalk board.

I thought I'd make one more card and I searched and found some of the cutest stickers with the Back to School theme. Let me share this card with you.

Now wouldn't this card be great to give to a little one on their first day at school.

School has started already in some of the school districts in my area, so this really is right on time, I guess.

Love the black and white stripe of that ribbon. I also used a rich red and a beautiful golden yellow ribbon as accents. To make my single loop bow for these cards I used my Craft-Dee BowZ tool. The Craft-Dee BowZ tool is THE tool to use to make your bows. It makes bow making a snap!!! Click here to place your order.Need it shipped internationally??? Go to the side bar and email Donna.

I am so glad you stopped in today. Thursday I am teaching a class at Stampaway, the stamp convention in Cincinnati, Ohio. Donna will be meeting up with me Thursday afternoon as we visit a few stamp stores in the Cincinnati area. And she will be manning her booth Friday night and all day Saturday at  the convention..If you are planning on coming to the Stampaway convention, stop in at the Craft-Dee BowZ booth and say hi to Donna

Well that's it for now. See you soon
